Wellness Points Program

Participate in the University Wellness Program and earn wellness points to reduce the cost of your 2015 medical plan premium. Take the wellness assessment by the March 31 deadline, and you earn 100 points. It only takes 20 minutes, and you can take it during your scheduled work day. Add another 100 points if your covered spouse/partner also takes the assessment.

New in 2014 - Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Plan and Network Options

In 2014, you can choose from variety of plans including a new accountable care organization (ACO) plan, which offers unique networks of providers in the 11-county Twin Cities metro area.

In an ACO, Medica and the provider network work together to deliver a new level of service: seamless healthcare, coverage, information and support. Depending on the ACO, members may have a single source to handle all their healthcare needs, from appointments and treatment to benefits and claims.

There are four ACO options to consider in the 11-county Twin Cities metro area: Fairviewand North MemorialVantage with Medica, Inspiration Health by HealthEast with Medica, Park Nicollet First with Medica, and Ridgeview Connect with Medica.

Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Plan

Medica offers four Accountable Care Organization (ACO) networks in the 11-county Twin Cities metro area. In an ACO, Medica and the provider network work together to deliver a new level of service: seamless healthcare, coverage, information and support.

Medica Elect / Medica Essential

This is the low-cost base plan option. Providers in the Medica Elect® / Medica EssentialSM network are grouped into care systems. At the time of enrollment you will select a network primary care clinic from which you will receive regular care.

Medica Choice Regional

This is the low-cost base plan option for regional employees. This network offers open access to many physicians and hospitals. No referrals are necessary.

Patient Choice Insights by Medica

Doctors and facilities in this network are in three tiers based on cost and quality. When you select a provider in a lower tier, your share of care costs is generally lower.

Medica Choice National

If you select this plan, you will have open access to more than 659,000 physicians and more than 5,100 hospitals. No referrals are necessary.

Medica Choice HSA

This health savings account (HSA) plan allows you to save money in a bank account for current or future medical expenses while enjoying access to a large national network.
